The manager is 9A2AJ, who is one of the world's best QSLers.
He is mgr (and probably the op) for several other Cyprus
operations - P31A, P30ADA etc. I've never heard of a W2
mgr, but your card will get a reply just as fast via 9A2AJ
as it will from a typical W manager - probably much faster.

The second is right, I believe. For the picky, it's good all day the
7th, up till midnight, local prevailing time. (After that, of course,
it's the 8th!)
: I think the rule reads "one year" which would be Nov. 7 to Nov. 7. "Twelve

I looked it up. It's 365 days. That means it's Nov 7 - Nov 6 in leap
years.
: Once I thought merely splitting hairs in two was picky, then I studied the
: law ...
I'll second that!

single source?

Okay - I am not sure about this one - but let me give it a stab.
The HQ-105TR is *basically* an HQ-100 (100C if it has an analog clock)
general coverage 2-30MHz radio receiver PLUS a 5 watt AM CB transmitter.
The rig was manufactured by Hammarlund back in the late 50's and/or
early 60's.
I used the HQ-100C receiver with fairly good results for a few years
in the mid-60s as part of my Novice station. As to whether it is
worth $60 - hmmmm - well, if you want to work CB - I wouldn't buy
it for that purpose. If you want to do some shortwave listening with
an old tube-type rig for nostaglic purposes - sure, why not? Personally,
I would not bother with that rig. I would find something else, especially
if you want to monitor the ham bands.

My points: Some of "my generation" of high-school kids in the 60's built
Heathkits for fun, not just success or education, and
And for the hams in the 50's (especially) the Heath product
line was a lower cost alternative to buying off-the-shelf
ham gear. Unfortunately, by the 70's Heath was costly compared
with import competition.

If it is a noisy honda, fixing the wires will not help. The RFI is
coming directly from the igniter area in the distributor cap
neighborhood, and radiates very nicely into your antenna, and that of
passing cars.
When driving my truck, I can always tell if a honda is passing by. Unfortunately
when in our Honda, it is hard to get away from the noise...

My parents have a 1990 Accord which failed to start one day. It was traced
to a bad ignition module. About a year after my dad had it replaced (out
of his own pocket) Honda sent out a notice referring to this problem and
reimbursed my father.
I'm not sure if a new style of ignition module was used. Perhaps that is
the problem. Could you ask the dealership what EXACTLY was "fixed". If a
new part was used what part did it replace?
If it is something other than the ignition module I would be really
interested in knowing as I have a high milage (140k) 1985 Chevy Caprice
which has *terrible* ignition noise. I have checked all of the usual
items: Plugs, cables but to no avail. I think there might be a problem in
the distributor. (I'm sure that SOMEWHERE, in some police garage there is
a mechanic who has solved my EXACT problem - too bad there isn't a
rec.radio.police.caprice.RFI newsgroup)

Subject: Special Events Question
To: info-hams@ucsd.edu
I'm sorry about the vacuois post. I'm using a new news reader
and it takes a little getting used to. This is what I meant to
post previously.
I am part of a group of hams that is planning a special event
for July 4 - 10, 1994. None of us has had any experience with this
kind of thing and we have a few questions that someone in this
group may be able to answer.
1) Is the period of July 4 - 10 a good or bad time?
2) We wanted to send a commemorative certificate and a QSL
card. Is it OK to ask the contact to send a 9x12 SASE?
Will this reduce the number of contacts appreciably?
3) How is the best way to spread the word about this event?
4) None of the hams involved has had a call or address for
long enough to be in any older callbook. How should the
QSL information be handled? Sending an address over the
air can be a problem. How can this be avoided?
5) Are there any hidden obstacles lurking out there to take
us by surprise?
Thanks for any input.

Well, lets see what part 97 says under definitions:
(35) Repeater. An amateur station that automatically
retransmits the signals of other stations.
Yep, looks like you got a repeater, but so what? I can't find any thing
in part 97 that you are violating anyway. If you are causing interferance,
and are not coordinated, you would have to deal with it, but from what
you say, I see no violation here.
Can anyone else?

Sorry tim - that's not the solution. There has been a group of Jeep
Cherokee
owners who have been trying for YEARS to quiet up our vehicles, and so far
absolutely nothing works. In our case, the noise seems to be coming from
the fuel injector circuits/computer...

That's old news. BUT the HF maritime CW bands are still jumping with
activity and the C.G. is still monitoring them, so CW on the high seas
